HOW GSM WORKS
GSM stands for “Grams per Square Meter” and is a measure of the weight or density of a fabric. It is commonly used in the textile industry to determine the quality and characteristics of fabrics.

To calculate GSM, the weight of a fabric is measured in grams square meters. The area of the fabric is determined by multiplying the length of the fabric by its width.

Here’s an example of how to calculate the GSM of a fabric sample:

Weigh the fabric sample using a scale that can measure in grams. Let’s say the fabric sample weighs 50 grams.

Measure the length and width of the fabric sample in meters. Let’s say the fabric sample measures 0.5 meters in length and 0.5 meters in width.

Calculate the area of the fabric sample by multiplying the length by the width. the area is 0.25 square meters (0.5 x 0.5).

Divide the weight of the fabric sample by its area to get the GSM.  the GSM is 200 (50 ÷ 0.25).

The GSM value provides information about the fabric’s weight and density,

GSM is an important factor to consider in textile manufacturing, as it can affect the durability, strength, and performance of the fabric.
